Will my insurer cover it the same as a face-to-face consultation?
Yes, all major insurers are now covering remote consultations but, please do check this with your insurer when authorising your appointment.
For self-pay, will I be charged the same amount as a regular consultation?
Yes, as you will be receiving the same expert care, the fee for the appointment is the same.

Yes, your consultant will ensure they are in a private space where they cannot be overheard. Please make sure you are set up in a comfortable and private environment as you will be discussing your private medical history.

You can still be referred for some imaging procedures and bloods – your doctor will explain the limitations of remote consultations during your consultation.
What happens if my consultant refers me for imaging?
We are currently providing imaging services to our patients. We presently can’t offer walk-ins due to our pre-screening patient guidelines, due to COVID-19. Pre-screening occurs by phone prior to a patient attending Highgate Hospital for a scan
If I’m referred for surgery when will that be?
Your surgeon will explore all treatment options, bearing in mind the current situation.
Currently, only clinically necessary surgery is permitted and patients referred for surgery must go through a national triage system based on clinical need. All non-urgent surgery cases are being held on a waiting list. We hope this wait won’t be long and we will remain in contact with you to update you on the status of your booking.
When will surgery start again?
We are aiming to provide our patients with their required surgeries as soon as possible, and when it is safe to do so. We will communicate this to our patients as soon as we can.
I had a surgery booked and then cancelled due to Covid-19, what happens now?
Our bookings team are managing your booking closely to ensure you are ready to be booked as soon as is possible. We are in regular contact with your consultant to also keep them updated.
