NHS Patients

We are currently experiencing very short waiting times for NHS appointments at Highgate Private Hospital. You can see a consultant in as little as 2 – 4 weeks and if a procedure is required have it in 8 – 14 weeks.

What is Patient Choice?

Patient Choice is a government initiative introduced to give NHS patients more choice about where and when they are treated.  It means that NHS patients in England who require hospital treatment will be offered a choice of hospitals or clinics for their treatment (including participating private hospitals) by their GP and one of the options could be Highgate Hospital.  Further information on Patient Choice can be found on the NHS website.

How to book an NHS appointment?

When you and your GP agree that you need an appointment with a specialist, the initial hospital or clinic appointment can be booked by using the NHS e-Referral Service.

The system allows you to choose which hospital or clinic you go to and you will also be able to choose the date and time of your appointment.

The GP can also provide you with the Appointment Request Letter including instructions, a Unique Booking Reference Number (UBRN) and the password which allows you to book the appointment at a later date on the phone or via the internet. Patients wishing to use our services must select ‘Aspen’ and then choose ‘Highgate’ from the drop-down list.
