As the new academic term begins, recent evidence suggests that growing numbers of young people are suffering from chronic back pain.
Last month, a survey of almost 2,400 youngsters by the British Chiropractic Association reported that 37 per cent of those aged 16 to 24 have experienced neck or back pain, while half aged 18 to 34 regularly suffer backache. Experts blame an increasingly sedentary lifestyle, as well as the stress of an exam-driven culture.
Highgate Private Hospital boasts a physiotherapy department who work closely with other pain management specialists within the hospital including orthopedic consultants, consultant podiatric surgeons as well as sport physicians to provide patients suffering with back pain with a comprehensive service.
