Highgate Hospital raises funds for Breast Cancer Care

Highgate Hospital were proud to sponsor the Generations Walk 2011, in aid of Breast Cancer Care.

Despite the poor weather conditions, over 200 walkers, children and dogs including staff from the hospital took part in the 5km walk on Sunday 12th June.  The walk took place across Hampstead Heath, starting and finishing at Kenwood House with a picnic lunch in the Old Kitchen for walkers upon completion.

The walk raised over £32,000 which this year will sponsor a medical research project aimed at developing new drugs to overcome resistance to chemotherapy.  Allyson Budino, Imaging Services Manager at Highgate Hospital, said: At Highgate Hospital we are committed to helping local women become more breast aware having recently introduced a mammography screening service for women over the age of 40 years.  As such we were delighted to support this worthwhile cause and despite the rain enjoyed taking part in the walk as well."
