About

Mr Charalambides has qualified as a medical doctor from the Aristotle University Medical School of Thessaloniki in Greece. Following completion of basic and higher Orthopaedic surgical training at G Papanicolaou University Hospital, he was awarded the Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in Orthopaedic Surgery in June 1994. In England he successfully completed the SpR training in the South West Thames (St George’s Hospital), Orthopaedic training programme and passed the FRCS(Trauma and Ortho) exam. Following completion of two Orthopaedic training programmes, he has gained a wide experience in all aspects of Orthopaedic Surgery.

He was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Whittington Hospital, London in October 2002. He is currently an honorary Senior Lecturer at the University College Medical School, London. He takes an active role in the training of Orthopaedic higher specialist trainees at the Whittington Hospital.

His special interest is Foot and Ankle surgery, including trauma to the Ankle and Foot in adults and children. Since he was appointed at the Whittington Hospital he has organised and established the Foot and Ankle service where he runs specialist Foot and Ankle clinics and operating lists. As a result he has gained extensive experience in the whole spectrum of adult and paediatric Foot and Ankle disorders.

Most of his practice consists of treating patients suffering from foot and ankle disorders and injuries. He performs lower limb arthroplasties and arthroscopies. He treats all aspects of trauma patients having a special interest in the treatment of complex fractures.
