Highgate Private Hospital joins global community to mark World Mental Health Day

Today Highgate Private Hospital is joining millions of people around the globe as we mark and honour World Mental Health Day.

Every year on 10th of October, The World Health Organization joins together to recognise this special day.

World Mental Health Dayis a day for global mental health education, awareness and advocacy. 

The theme of World Mental Health Day this year is Mental health and older adults. This year the day will be celebrating the enormous potential that this life phase can have in terms of enjoying a full and active later life, and maintaining a healthy social involvement in the community.

The facts and figures around Mental Health in the UK are alarming. 1 in 4 peoplewill experience some kind of mental health problem in the course of a year. Women are more likely to have been treated for a mental health problemthan men and around 10 percent of children have a mental health problemat any one time. Mixed anxiety and depression is the most common mental disorderin Britain with depression affecting 1 in 5 older peoplein the UK.

Highgate Private Hospital provides a Psychiatry clinic, for patients experiencing personal problems or feelings that concern you. Our Consultant Psychiatrists may be able to help you manage or overcome these difficulties. 

We offer regular one-to-one outpatient consultations, the personal content of which is strictly confidential to the consultant.  Our Psychiatrists will usually examine your physical and mental state as well as your personal and family history.  Treatment may include medication, psychotherapy, psychoanalysis or behaviour therapy.
