Training and Background
Mr. Jaiswal’s NHS practice is based at The Royal Free Hospital NHS Trust. His duties comprise of a general trauma service and specialised complex lower limb trauma. His elective duties include Hip and knee surgery with a special interest in Young Adult Hip Pathologies and Hip Arthroscopy. He is the leading the formation of The Young Adult Hip Unit at The Royal Free London NHS Trust.
Mr Jaiswal qualified from Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Medical School in 2001. After completing basic surgical training at Guy’s and The Royal London Teaching Hospitals, he undertook his orthopaedic training on the renowned Stanmore rotation, where he was one of the first-ever academic trainees. On this rotation, he trained in world-famous tertiary units where complex surgery was the norm like the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and The Royal London Hospital (a major trauma centre). On the research side, Mr Jaiswal worked with some of the leading Academics in Modern Day Orthopaedics such as Professors George Bentley and David Marsh.
After completing his surgical training and thesis on cartilage damage, he travelled to Calgary (Canada) to undertake the joint reconstruction and young adult hip fellowships and complex trauma. This was a high volume centre in simple, complex and revision hip and knee replacements as well as hip arthroscopy and osteotomies (breaking of bone and realignment). He was awarded the prestigious British Orthopaedic Association Soli Lam Travelling Fellowship to facilitate this.
Mr Jaiswal gained considerable more experience during his second fellowship at Frimley Park Hospital (one of the highest volume hip arthroscopy centres in England) and further enhanced his hip and knee surgery skills.
During his Consultant post at Guy’s & St. Thomas’s NHS Trust, he was awarded the British Hip Society Travelling Fellowship. This provided him with the opportunity to visit one of the world’s leading and pioneering hip arthroscopists, Marc Philippon and one of the leading Hip Replacement surgeons, Joel Matta in Vail, USA. Having learnt advanced hip arthroscopy and hip replacement skills, and also having worked as a Consultant in at Guy’s Hospital, he is able to offer a comprehensive hip and knee service to patients with complex problems.
