Renal medicine (kidneys)
Renal medicine, also known as nephrology, involves the investigation and treatment of kidney disease.
We offer regular outpatient clinics with a Consultant Nephrologist for patients to establish why your kidneys may be showing signs of damage and what can be done to stop further deterioration. At Highgate Hospital we can also offer ultrasound scans of the kidneys and routine investigatory blood and urine test analysis to support your consultant in a diagnosis.
Our consultants specialise in:
- Chronic kidney disease
- Diabetic nephropathy (kidney damage due to diabetes)
- High blood pressure (hypertension)
- Kidney stones
- Proteinuria (excess protein in the urine)
Please note these are regular clinics, other times may be available by appointment.
