A mobile scanning unit now visits the hospital once a week, enabling patients requiring a MRI scan to have it done onsite. MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) uses powerful magnets to create an image of parts of the body including deep tissue, organs and blood vessels.

The scanner, provided by Mobile Diagnostics, is an open scanner which reduces the feeling of claustrophobia that some patients experience with a traditional enclosed MRI scanner. It uses the latest computer technology to provide high quality joint and limb scans and produce rapid scan results and images.

Scans of the knee, shoulder and other joints are available to all patients, whether you are insured or paying for your own procedure.

Your GP or consultant and some physiotherapists and osteopaths are able to refer you for a MRI scan. We accept all types of referrals and will always ensure your results are sent back to your doctor or consultant quickly, usually within 48 hours.

Call 01228 635555 for appointments.
