We recognise that coming into hospital, especially for the first time can be an unfamiliar and sometimes daunting experience for some people so our aim is to make your stay at Highgate Hospital as easy, relaxed and comfortable as possible.
On arrival, please report to the main reception where we will organise you to be admitted and show you to your room so you can settle in and make yourself comfortable. If possible, please arrange for friends or family to bring you to the hospital as we generally advise against driving. However there are parking spaces available should you decide to drive yourself.
Visitors and patients are not permitted to smoke anywhere within the Hospital building or grounds.
What to bring with you nightwear dressing gown and slippers personal toiletries a book or magazine to read any medication you are currently taking in labelled containers (you will probably be able to continue taking these whilst in hospital) any relevent x-rays you may have your insurance documents or method of payment if appropriate
What not to bring large sums of cash valuable jewellery
Your facilities During your stay with us you can select your meals from our extensive menu which offers a full range of nutritionally balanced meals to suit all dietary requirements including kosher and halal as well as special diets, for example gluten-free. Hot and cold beverages are available 24 hours a day and your guest may enjoy a meal or a drink in your room.
All inpatient rooms are en-suite.
We are happy to arrange incoming and outgoing post for patients as well as the typing of letters and sending and receiving of faxes
A telephone is available in each patients' room for incoming and outgoing calls. Please note that outgoing calls wil be charged for
Flat screen satellite TV with Sports, Film, News and Music channels
Internet access may be arranged by prior appointment. Please inform our reservations department of any specific requirements you may have and we will do our best to help
A newspaper of your choice will be delivered to your room each day
In addition, our inhouse pharmacy will cater for your prescription needs
We are happy to arrange a visit from a member of the clergy of any religious denomination
We are also happy to arrange a beautician or hairdresser to visit you.
Smoking Patients and visitors are not permitted to smoke either in the building or the grounds.
Going home Your date and time of discharge will be discussed with you by your consultant. We strongly recommend a friend or relative picks you up for your own comfort and safety.
Feedback We are always striving to improve the service we offer patients and would value your feedback. To this end we would be very grateful if you would complete and return our patient questionnaire at the end of your stay. Every year we collate the results of our inpatient questionnaires and publish them. What our patients think of us.
