On occasion a patient may consult a surgeon for nose reshaping due to concerns about their profile. In fact, it is sometimes that the profile of the chin is weak and increasing its size will balance the overall facial profile. Cosmetic surgery advice
Chin augmentation, or mentoplasty, is the procedure whereby a silicone implant is inserted to increase the size of the chin. It is usually carried out under general anaesthetic and an overnight stay in hospital may be required. It can be carried out on both men and women.
If the chin protrudes too much, a chin reduction rpocedure may be suggested. Dependent on the reduction required, this can range from the minimal reduction technique of removing some excess tissue and a slight reduction of the bone, to a more complicated procedure involving more bone reduction or resetting.
