Training & Background
Mr Miller has 25 years of experience as a consultant urological surgeon. He qualified in 1975 at St Bartholomew's Hospital, in London. He was appointed consultant urological surgeon at the Institute of Urology and Royal Northern Hospitals in 1986. In 1988 he became a Head of Department at the Whittington. In 2004 he received honorary clinical and academic appointments at the Royal Free iand University College Hospital.
Mr Miller's main interest has been minimally invasive endoscopic surgery and the management of stones. He is recognised as a pioneer and world authority in this area. Mr Miller was lead for bladder canceer surgery and served as Chairman of the North London Cancer Network Urological Tumour Board responsible for standards and outcomes in North London for five years (2005-2010). Mr Miller's academic work was rewarded with Hunterian Professorship; the first MS in renal endoscopic surgery and has resulted in 750 nation and international presentations, 250 peer review papers. He has supervised eight post graduated theses. In the last 10 years Mr Miller has developed a major interest in cystitis and pain syndromes (bladder, testicle, prostate); having developed many novel treatments for these difficult conditions. Mr Miller still teaches at University College Hospital Medical School but is now in private practice and medico-legal practice (nationally acknowledged expert). He is hoping to see Choose & Book patients for the NHS at Highgate in the near future.
