Training & Background

I qualified in Cairo, Egypt in 1987.  My postgraduate training was mainly undertaken in the UK between 1995 and 2007.  I have been a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist for the last four and half years (since October 2007).

I am trained in all aspects of general obstetrics and gynaecology including antenatal care, gynaecological surgery, colposcopy, early pregnancy & gynaecological ultrasound. I hold an Msc degree in medical ultrasound from King's College Hospital, london. I am a regional trainer in early pregnancy & gynaecological ultrasound for junior doctors in our specialty.

I am the lead consultant for early pregnancy & emergency gynaecology service at Medway Maritime Hospital, the largest Hospital in Kent.  We receive about 4000 referrals per year for early pregnancy and emergency gynaecology problems, some of which are from out of area.  We have a very high patients' satisfaction rate.

I provide an early pregnancy assessment clinic at the Highgate Hospital which I run my self.  The clinic will provide early pregnancy/gynaecology scanning for women with pain and/or bleeding in early pregnancy (up to 12 weeks). They will also receive advice and counselling with regards to their management options. Moreover, women with recurrent miscarriage  and women who have had a pregnancy loss in the past and need some advice regarding future pregnancy, will also benefit from the service. The service will be available on Saturdays 9am - 5pm.
