Training & Background
I trained as a doctor at Southampton University, qualifying in 1997. I have been working in paediatrics since 1998 both in the Wessex health region and here in north London.
I began training as a neonatologist and retain a certain fondness for, and confidence with, the babies amongst my patients. But I missed the play with the toddlers, the cheekiness of the primary school children, the challenges and concerns of the thoughtful secondary school pupils and the breadth of the work of the general paediatrician. My NHS post as a paediatrician with an interest in emergency paediatrics allows me to work with all of these age groups and still do the babies too!
It is this breadth of experience that I bring with me to Highgate Hospital where I am happy to see young people of all ages with their parents in the relaxed, informal environment of my outpatients’ clinics.
